1) Legal Aid & Advice Clinic: On every alternate Thursdays, President Mrs Sabita Chuganee who is an
advocate, visits the B.D.D Chawls where we have a Legal Aid & Advice Clinic. We have been instrumental
in successfully conciliating between some parties and we have also recommended and registered some
cases to the appropriate courts. Problems range from family disputes like wife beating, deserting the
wife, child neglect, cruelty towards parents and divorce. About 200 families have benefited by this Legal
Aid Clinic which is running very successfully.
2) Loans have been arranged through banks for underprivileged women doing business like toy-making,
vegetable selling at B.D.D chawls.
3) Sewing classes are conducted at the B.D.D chawls everyday where 30 women are learning stitching.
4) A Sewing Competition and Embroidery Competition was held for the students on 28 th September.
Eight top prizes and 20 consolation prizes were given in both the categories.
5) A camp was held at Cuffe Parade, Machhisabha Nagar, for consumer awareness programme.
6) Consumer Education Camp and spice testing was held at Sacred Heart, Koliwada. Video tape on
consumer rights was shown.
7) Legal Education on Personal Law was held at St. Andrew’s Church, Saki Naka.
8) Consumer Education Camps were held at Sacred Heart School Koliwada Worli and a Workshop on
Woman and Law.
9) Rs.10000/- was given to the District for the Shram Bharti Khadi Gram Udyog Pratisthan training of 7
Women in spinning thread and 8 women for a six month training period in agarbathi making and
packaging. This project is being conducted at Ponje Village near Panvel.
10) Cataract Operations were performed an 3 patients through HELPAGEINDIA.
