*Rearing a child is* in itself a challenge but rearing a child with *special needs* is not only challenging but a massive burden on both the child and the parents. It is not just the emotional and physical stress that one undergoes but the mental and financial stress cannot be overlooked. *Heartbeat of Humanity* - true to our mission and Keeping in mind the goal and the very *purpose of Inner Wheel* , we will promote actions, services and good practices, intended to improve the lives of women and children in the world, through a global network of Members. *Like Every beat matters, every life matters,* it is imperative that we look at this aspect of life with compassion and kindness. *Early intervention and Rehabilitation Centre for Children- a BMC initiative* is one such comprehensive care giving Centre which caters to Children with special needs. It provides all kinds of treatment for these *kids with special needs* under one roof at *absolutely no cost to the patients* from lower strata of the society. Be it physiotherapy, to counseling , to speech therapy, to dental treatment, to pathology, and so and so forth, every aspect of treatment is covered here. When ones looks at the flow of patient or kids who need these *special treatment ,* you wonder at the number of kids with so many deformities and congenital disorders. Study also shows that most of these disorders arise mainly due to inbreeding and lack of proper understanding of human physiology. Having said that most of it is basically due to our social and cultural practices which is an imperative part of our society at large. *Health and wellness* of our women and children play a key role in the upliftment of society at large. This center was introduced to me by a very dear Family friend and after that our then President *Shirley Lazarus* and I visited this center to assess the feasibility of as to how we as IWCBN could help this place. What we saw touched our hearts. Ever since then this project has been very close to my heart. With the donation of VitalStim therapy machine we have completed our first phase of this project. *VitalStim* therapy machine is specialized form of *neuromuscular electrical stimulation* (NMES), used in feeding therapy for children with swallowing difficulties (dysphagia) . I cannot thank enough our *Shagun President Dr.Jyoti Dabholkar* for her generous donation and in making this project a reality. *IWCBN* remains ever grateful to *Mr Bharat Shah* for his generous donation *of Rs 2 lakhs* towards this project and to *Rotarian Dr. Agarwal and his wife Sonal Agarwal for their generous donation of Rs 1 lakh* and for gracing this auspicious occasion. *IWCBN extends its gratitude to Dr.Henal Shah who is heading this center* for her support and for making us part of this noble cause. *IWCBN also thanks the entire team of doctors and support staff* for their dedication and support to this Intervention and Rehabilitation Centre.
